ABOUT US

Award Winning

The founder, Nikki, was recently recognized with the Prudential Spirit of Community award for her outstanding service projects.

Local Volunteers

This club is run by local teens that want to serve the community and believe that everyone should know how to read.

Prime Location

The Rosa Keller Library is a great quiet spot to read a book, but they also have many other projects going on.

ABOUT

The Crescent City Reading Buddies meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Rosa Keller Library. All participants should meet in the children's room between 4PM and 5PM. Each month has a different theme and a hands-on craft so be sure to check out the upcoming meeting's tab to see what is coming up.

This is a youth led, youth developed, youth empowered program. Founder, Nikki, began this program to share her love of reading with her community. Mother of five year old, Ava, recently attended a buddy group commenting, "Ava is a beginning reader and sometimes gets discouraged reading with me so this seems like a great opportunity for her to meet teenage role models that will spend time reading with her".

Parents should remain in the library during each event. Also, this is not a tutoring service and the teen volunteers have not received any formal training on literacy development or instruction. They are simply encouraging younger children to love reading as much as they do
